Keeping Tabs on Heidi Melton

Heidi MeltonThanks to operabase.com I discovered that while diva Heidi Melton is in the middle of her career-first run as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser at Opéra National de Bordeaux, she already has quite a line-up of early career roles next season at Deutsche Oper Berlin! I presume this is in addition to her duties covering Brewer’s Alceste, and Voigt’s Chrysothemis.

All you devoted Meltonians out there – Check out p. 6 of the June Opera News where Brain Kellow gives Heidi major props (with photo) as one of the winners of the George London Foundation awards. “The judges noticeably snapped to attention the moment Melton began to sing.”

The photo accompanying the article, captioned “Heidi Hojotoho”-cute!- shows her looking stunning in her concert gown. Way to go, Heidi, who is $10,000 richer for her efforts.

Indeedio! Her photo inclusion offered a lovely added bonus. How exciting the intl. opera world is taking greater notice. And, how lovely to see her Merola/Adler “sis” Elza van den Heever on the following spread too.
